The textile is made from Indigo resist-dyed cotton. This cloth likely originates from the Dogon. Such textiles are commonly found throughout West Africa and most specifically among the Dogon, Mossi, Mende, Bamana, Senufo, Hausa, Fulani, Igbo, Yoruba, etc. The indigo resist-dyed cotton cloth is made of several strips sewn together. The background of this textile is blue indigo. This cloth in blue reminisces traditional and old styles of textile-making.
We do not recommend laundering textiles. Even dry cleaning is too much for some of these antique textiles.
