Hand-cut and ground crystal bottle; its shape is unusual and peculiar, even the stopper echoes the lines of the bottle; an excellent lead crystal was used for its execution, which gives the crystal itself a high refractive index; with hand-crafted manual techniques of cutting, grinding, and polishing, the surface of the bottle creates extraordinary plays of light and reflections; the whole body of the bottle has extremely precise handwork, there are also small relief elements also finely worked. The bottle was made between 1920 and 1925 in northern Bohemia in the Jablonec nad Nisou area, in one of the many local artisan workshops where the working, blowing, handling, carving, and decorating of glass have had their heyday since ancient times, where even today numerous workshops and stores of artists and designers are concentrated, to whom we owe the perpetuation of delicate and ancient art. The fine matte star-shaped and linear engravings are skillfully contrasted with the perfect polished grindings and classic Bohemian workmanship of the early 1900s. When crystal, obtainable by the addition of sodium and manganese to glass, was discovered in Italy in 1450, Bohemia, an ancient region of Central Europe already renowned for glass production and manufacture, immediately welcomed the novelty, but it was not until the 1600s that the Bohemians discovered all the secrets to bring to life the most beautiful and luminous crystal ever seen: Bohemian crystal was born. Our bottle with its delightful and graceful shape tells us these wonderful stories, it is an object with a unique identity full of elegance and refinement. Measures width cm.29, depth cm.10, and height cm.27. The bottle is in excellent condition. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
