Created in China during the late Qing Dynasty period in the early years of the 20th century, this elm wood armchair features a rectangular open back, adorned with an in-curving splat carved with a pierced medallion in its center. The two arms present a serpentine shape and rest on thin sinuous supports. The chair showcases a recessed hand-woven rattan seat in the center and is raised on four cylindrical legs with carved apron in the front and a low stretcher perfect to support the feet. The sides each feature a simple apron and a stretcher.
