About The Poster: In this vintage lithograph German soldiers suffering from corns contrasted with French soldiers who are shown as free from corns owing to the remedy "Spécitique Victorieux". The product was made by a pharmacist called Victorieux at Eymet in the Dordogne.
Trench foot, also known as immersion foot syndrome, was a serious issue for soldiers at the turn of the last century. With prolonged exposure to water at the bottom of trenches, soldiers risked damage to the skin, nerves and muscles of the foot that would quite literally hobble them. A medication which could prevent corns would have provided welcome relief.
This lithographic poster is on its originally metal batons which would have facilitated display in a shop window. In very good condition and ready to frame.
