Patsy Cox is Professor of Visual Art and Head of Ceramics at California State University, Northridge where she has served as Associate Chair and Graduate Coordinator for Visual Art. She has been a Getty Scholar for the Linking Service Learning and the Visual Arts program and has coordinated several courses for the CSU Summer Arts program. She is currently serving as President of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA).
Cox has exhibited both nationally and internationally. Recent exhibitions include: Distillations and Eruptions at the Clay and Glass Gallery, Waterloo, Ontario, New Installation Work at the Seattle Design Center, Seattle, Washington, CODE at the Spring Street Studios, Houston, Texas,Uberyummy at the Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art, San Bernardino, California, On the Verge: Contemporary Ceramics at the Ulrich Museum of Art, Wichita, Kansas, and the Taiwan Ceramics Biennale, Taipei. Her work has been featured in catalogs, books and periodicals including:Ceramics: Art and Perception and Ceramics Monthly. She has received recognition for her work in the form of awards and grants most recently from the Durfee Foundation and the Investing in Artists grant from the California Center for Cultural Innovation. She has lectured extensively, most recently at the College Art Association’s (CAA) 99th annual conference, at the Pottery Workshop in Jingdezhen, China and as a keynote panelist forClay Now: An Artist and Educator’s Perspective on Current Issues in Art at the American Museum of Ceramic Art (AMOCA), Pomona, California. She lives and maintains a productive studio near downtown Los Angeles.
