Alvar Suñol Munoz-Ramos is a well known Spanish painter, sculptor and lithographer. He grew up in Spain and began painting at the early age of just 12 years. In 1959, after serving in the military, he went to Paris to further his artistic mind and career after obtaining a scholarship he won in a competition in Barcelona. From here, his career took off and his art was a major success. Alvar has been featured in several galleries across the United States, Europe and Japan, and has been commissioned to produce many murals and sculptures.
Alvar's lithographs revolve around motifs and symbols. In order to develop his lithographs, he uses a grease crayon in which he will draw directly onto zinc plates, and evolve the work by using a separate zinc plate for each color. In some of his lithographs, he has used as many as 14 colors. For Alvar, it usually requires an entire afternoon of printing a single color to achieve the desired results. His attention to detail, materials, and color is what makes these lithographs so stunning and original in style. less
