A pair of vintage Chinese classical-style hardwood side chairs with S-shaped letticework high backrest decorated with simplified coiled-dragon (拐子龙) and the central splat carved with “magpie ascending the plum tree" motif (喜鹊登梅) symbolizing the arrival of auspiciousness and great fortune, waisted seat with ice-plate edges (冰盘沿) and horseshoe legs without stretchers, solid rosewood, well-balanced structure, overall covered with reddish-brown finish, good condition with minor wear, marks and joint gaps as result of use and age
