Made from leather with space inside for two regular top hats and one collapsable hat in the lid. The interior having a fine red silk lining and straps, with brass hardware throughout and decorative leather tooling. The central handle to the lid has a solid brass escutcheon for the owners initials, the lock has the vr patent for queen victoria. The makers mark scott & co hatters. 1 old bond street london is stamped on the base. C1890.

the store at no1 old bond street opened in 1851 as a christy’s store and then renamed as scotts after the manager of the store when it was sold to lock and co. Hat makers to queen victoria & king george vi.

this hat bucket remains in original condition for it’s age, with a few repairs to the front strap, and no longer has the key, this being said, this hat bucket is in beautiful condition.
