Litography “Tournee du Chat Noir de Rodolphe Salis” created by Theophile-Alexandre Steinlen in 1896 to promote a traveling tour of the Shadow Theater from the cabaret Le Chat Noir.
The Art Nouveau black cat made its creator Steinlen famous long after the cabaret ceased to exist. The stylized rendering of the black, scraggly cat against a yellow background remains immensely popular.
This print in the original black, wooden frame stems from the 1950s and is in good condition.
