It is Primarily Made Out of Steel but the Top - Cap Appears to be Brass. Original Lighting Purpose - Deck Lamp. It has a Hanger at the Top and 2 Chain Fastener Loops at the Base for Securing - Stabilizing Purposes. It Still Retains its Original Cylindrical Molded Glass Lens that has Acquired a Light Amethyst Purple Color Over the Years. This is an Interesting Characteristic of Clear - Colorless Glass which Contains Manganese Dioxide Giving it a Tendency to Turn Different Shades of Purple when Exposed to the Rays of the Sun or to other Ultra-Violet Sources. PLEASE NOTE That This Lamp is Missing its Internal Oil Lamp Lighting Device. It Will However Display Very Nicely when Used as a Candle Lamp and I have Included - Provided a Brand New Candle that Comes With Purchase. ALSO NOTE That it Would Actually Work Very Well in a Outdoor Setting with a Citronella ( Mosquito ) Candle. It Has Been Used - Exposed to Salt Air For Many Years and as Such has Developed a Wonderful Authentic Aged Rustic Look that Cannot be Duplicated.
