They changed the recipe *just a smidge*. That smidge meant that by law they could no longer call it ironstone, but rather earthenware. It also meant that it was strong enough to be dishwasher and microwave safe. You can see why having a large amount of iron in something that is going to be in a microwave would be a bad idea, right? The dimensions and design are the *exact same* as the traditional regency white that they had been making, but it was a heavier, thicker, sturdier and more usable material. They stopped making china in the early 2000s, so the odds of finding the "new" old regency is low. Every single piece of this set is the new set, though. Well, new for something last made in 2003. There's 4 place settings of one each: 10.5" dinner plate, 8.5" x 1 3/8" rim soup bowl, 7.75" salad plate, 7.5" square salad plate, 6.25" bread and butter plate, and 5" x 3.25" x 3.25" coffee mug. This a either a small starter set for a formal set, a display set or a completer set for someone who has the existing vintage set and wants to go for the 12 pc place setting. There may be a few more pieces at any time than is listed because I prefer putting up complete sets. Feel free to ask at any time if there are any extras that haven't been updated. See less
