Excellent Pre-Owned Condition.
The origins of Sgraffito are traced to the Italian renaissance where it played a significant role in its use on the exterior of buildings and palace facades. After its introduction in Southern Europe, Sgraffito made its way into art and architecture during the Northern Renaissance. In clay works, it is a form of decoration made by scratching through a glazed surface to reveal the design carved in it and the clay body underneath. This beauty’s sgraffito look-and-feel is more contemporary with its whimsical Italian harvest vegetable motif done in brilliant life-like colors of each vegetable on a rich periwinkle blue background with white engobe (smooth white clay) exposed. It measures 7½” x 8¼” x 5” H/W/D; two-quart capacity; weight 1 lb. 15 oz.; Italian origin, maker unknown. In excellent condition with no noticeable wear. Hand wash to keep it looking fabulous! It’s the perfect earthenware accent for a rustic or European-inspired space + the colors will put a smile on your face each time you see it!
