The urn shape vase is studio hand thrown in the 1980's of porcelain ceramic by pottery designer Scott McDowell. It features beautiful Postmodern style Abstract pattern design details in a variegated multicolor palette with subtle metallic gold details, on an elegant off white cream intended subtle craquelure finish base. The vase was originally purchased at the Barneys New York Madison Avenue flagship store famous Chelsea Passage home design department.

Scott Andrew McDowell ( 1948 - 1992 ) was a gifted ceramic artist and gay rights activist whose life was cut short by AIDS. He was a graduate of University of Washington with degrees in both ceramics and microbiology. Scott operated showrooms in storefront studios in New York City and Seattle's Pioneer Square. His clients included many fine craft galleries and luxury stores including Neiman-Marcus, Barneys New York, and Henri Bendel.

The rare vintage Postmodern studio pottery porcelain vase measures 9" H X 5" DIA body X 3 1/2" DIA base X 3 1/4" DIA top opening. The vase is hand signed on the underside bottom.

It is in excellent " like new " clean vintage condition consistent with age and light signs of handling. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price. See less
