This is a stoneware shallow serving bowl or platter with a hand-painted abstract heron or shore bird standing on one leg depicted in the center. This Danish-modern style serving bowl in shades of brown and a hint of blue was made in Japan and designed by Niels Refsgaard (born in 1934) in the late 1970s for Dansk International and each platter was hand-painted before firing, hence no two are exactly alike.
The platter measures approximately 12 1/4" by 12 1/8" and stands 2 inches in height. The bottom is marked "Dansk International Designs Ltd Japan".
