This is a single reeded, rimmed European pewter bowl dating from the 18th century or perhaps as late as early 19th century. Impressed touchmark of crown over “JD”. Two other items — both are plates — with this mark are included in the prominent Neish Pewter Collection at the Smith Art Gallery & Museum in Stirling, Scotland. (The catalogue of this collection is available online.) This small, heavy bowl would make a nice addition to a pewter collection and displays wonderfully.
Good antique condition commensurate with age and use. Natural gray patina. Some wear at rim and light scratches. No dents.
