This is a wonderful decorated and gilded vase from the celebrated Danish artist and designer Bjorn Wiinblad.
The series is "Commedia dell Arte" - it depicts the classic Italian pantomime theatre tradition, complete with Wiinblad's signature round-faced people, in fanciful costume.
One one side of the vase, actors in costumes, harlequin tights, hats, and musical instruments ride atop other actors dressed as horses and hold up a colorful striped canopy with gold tassels. On the other side of the vase, a harlequin musician with a lute serenades an elegant lady with parasol, under two stylized lush trees in the garden. The gilded accents decorate the musical instruments, fringe, statuary, gold poles and other details in the story. The overall feel of the scene is bright and celebratory, good fun times being had!

It is in good vintage condition. Signed with the artist's signature and title & item # on the bottom.
The artist's signature is also on vase, incorporated into the design of this charming work of art.
