The exterior has six auspicious character medallions bracketed by polychrome clouds and flames with gold highlights. Each of the six Each of the six neo-clerical characters (She, Yue, Li, Shu, Shu, Yu) is glazed in green on a gold disc covered with dense intertwined vines or knots and surrounded by four polychrome bannered lappets with gold highlights. The auspicious six character medallion pattern is repeated on the interior of the bowl with an enlarged character medallion at the bottom within double gold circles. The foot of the bowl is ringed with a band of red and green, leafy Ru Yi lappets. A six character gold Chenghua reign mark within double gold squares on a red ground is glazed to the inset base and is surrounded by leafy, flowering polychrome vines. The finely carved traditional Chinese hongmu circular stand is included. Circa early 20th century, no later than mid century.
