The silkscreen print Pop Art poster s published by The SIAE - Italian Society of Authors and Publishers, printed in Italy in 1989 in an unnumbered limited edition by Impronte Edizioni. It features an iconic " Untitled " ( Finger Pointing ) artwork image originally created by Lichtenstein in 1973 from The New York Collection for Stockholm.

Roy Lichtenstein ( 1923 - 1997 ) The American born Pop artist of a Jewish background, is one of the most well known and loved worldwide Contemporary artists. During the 1960's along with Andy Warhol among others, he became a leading figure in the new Pop Art Movement. His work defined the premise of Pop Art through parody. Inspired by the comic strip, Lichtenstein produced precise compositions often in a tongue in cheek manner. Artworks by Lichtenstein are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.

In the early 1970's the New York group " Experiments in Art and Technology " curated a collection of some of the most important art of the 1960's Pop, Minimalist, and Conceptualism with the aim of donating it to a public museum. They chose 30 works by 30 different artists in a variety of mediums and selected The Moderna Museet in Stockholm as the recipient due to its strong history of support for American Contemporary Art. Thus " The New York Collection for Stockholm " portfolio was created. This " Finger Pointing " artwork image by Lichtenstein was first created in 1973 for that landmark portfolio collection.

The Lichtenstein Finger Pointing image references the classic " Uncle Sam " military recruiting posters, borrowing an iconic American symbol and expanding its range of meaning. His repurposing of the motif as a commentary on The Vietnam War similar to civil rights activists and anti war demonstrators of the time. Lichtenstein's uncanny ability to infuse his unique essence into a popular image with an iconic result is never more present than in this famous artwork.

The rare out of print silkscreen serigraph print large framed Pop Art poster measures 29" W X 40 7/8" H X 1 5/8" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern matte eggshell finish black wood museum box style frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.

It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is in excellent " like new " very clean vintage condition consistent with age and light signs of handling.
