A beautiful set of handmade ceramic salad plates from the 1970s in the Lotus pattern designed by Newell B. Stevens, founder of Newell Stevens Ceramics. The Lotus motif evolved from castings of real lotus leaves harvested from the famous lotus garden in Echo Park Lake, Los Angeles, California. Newell Stevens Ceramics was subsequently bought by the Metlox Company which continued to produce the line.
These chic salad plates are beautiful for use and/or display in a cabinet or hung on the wall. They even look pretty stacked. The textural, organic look with its embossed veins, ruffled edges, and off-centre middle in a lush apricot-blush colour is a nice addition to many interior styles: Mid-Century Modern, Hollywood Regency, or any tropical, natural, theme.
The condition is excellent: there are no scratches, chips, cracks, or crazing.
