Victorian Figural Tea Biscuit Jar, Queen Victoria & King Charles Spaniel c 1865
Eagle Bay Heirlooms is pleased to offer this very rare Estate Find. A Staffordshire biscuit, cookie or tobacco jar. These antique Victorian storage jars were amongst the rarest objects produced by the potters. There are two known models and this one, and another depicting a Turk. There are no maker's marks which is not uncommon for this period.
This is a glazed earthenware with overall tight crazing.
A wonderful depiction of young Queen Victoria holding Dash King Charles Spaniel Dog. She has a pink jacket with gold buttons and her long full skirt is decorated in tiny rose buds, in between panels of teal green designs. Her bonnet is a pale yellow with a deep pink ribbon which falls from the back of the bonnet into a wider shape to become the handle for the jar.
A wonderful gift.... can be used as a trinket or candy jar. Just stunning British item.
