Massive wood carving of the face of the “The Green Man”. The Green Man is mainly associated with the symbol of rebirth, representing the cycle of growth each spring. Some say he is the ancient guardian of the forest dating to 400 AD. This tradition was highly revolved around the fertility of the land, and lush vegetation was a sign of prosperity.
Finely carved of solid wood, mahogany in color perched on a stand. There is a recessed hanger on the back to hang if desired. Dates to early 1900.
Measures 32” high, 14” wide and 7” deep. Good condition, no damage; see photos.
