Circa … Read more This really is an Exceptionally Nice - Very Unusual Antique Pine Wood Shipping Crate / Box. American in Origin. Circa Very Early 20th Century. This Box would have contained Horse Farriers and Blacksmiths Horseshoe Nails that were Produced by the Capewell Horse Nail Company in Hartford Connecticut. The Front still retains its Wonderful Original Lithograph Paper Label that depicts a Race Horse - Race Track - Jockey - Spectators Etc Scene. The Left and Right Sides of the Box are Stencil Decorated in Red Paint - CAPEWELL HORSE NAIL CO. The Top - Lid has still retains it Original Wire Hinges. The "Finger Lap" Style Jointed Corners also add to its Decorative Features. The Smaller Size of this box Makes It Quite Versatile as far as your Display Purposes Go. It is in Very Nice - Much Better than Average Condition as far as these types of antique wood shipping boxes are concerned. Note That it appears to have been Lightly Varnished some years back Giving it a Wonderful Color and Patina as well as Preservation Purposes. It Displays Beautifully.
