The Mid Century Modern poster is published by The Tate Gallery London, printed in Great Britain in 1971 in an unnumbered limited edition for The Trustees of The Tate Gallery by The Hillingdon Press, Uxbridge, Middx. It features an Abstract Expressionist artwork image originally created by Rothko in 1957 titled " Light Red Over Black ", copyright 1971 The Tate Gallery.

Mark Rothko ( 1903 - 1970 ) is an American Modernist painter of Russian Jewish descent. Although Rothko himself refused to adhere to any art movement, he is generally defined as an Abstract Expressionist. His bold use of color fields make the artworks impressively iconic and highly individual. Rothko is considered one of the most important and influential American artists of The Twentieth Century. Art works by Rothko are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.

The rare out of print framed lithograph print museum poster measures 22 1/4" W X 33 1/4" H X 1 3/8" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern matte brushed finish dark charcoal metal frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.

It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is in excellent " like new " vintage condition with very light signs of handling and very light minor surface wear in the margin border area.
