The mahogany frame together with the elegantly turned legs and shoe feet sets it apart. The crest rail and front seat rail are detailed with well and elegantly carved shells. The knees are highlighted with acanthus leaf carvings. At some point in the early to mid-19th century the stretchers were removed--perhaps to give the chair a more modern feel; the decorative value remains high--this is a very attractive chair which would make a great decorative eye-catching design element.
