This important antique renaissance desk is from the 1850s, all in solid walnut, with two large upper drawers. It features shaped and carved cupped legs with leonine paw terminations and a shaped central cross with a carved central flower. The chair is made of carved walnut. This type of table was born during the cinquecento in tuscany, and then expanded more in the rest of central italy. As the years went by, these tables became enriched with carvings of mannerist taste and the supports became a single body with a leonine or edging end.
