Terminal model type, it represents the myth of Hera carefully staged.
Hera is the patron goddess par excellence of the woman and the goddess of wedlock, guardian of the couple fertility and maternity cases.
His attributes are the royal scepter and tiara. His face is covered with a veil, accessories symbolizing marriage.
Here we are in the presence of a scepter or figure two alliances, male and female intertwined, symbolizing the lawful union of marriage. No sailing our beautiful goddess but an amphora filled with water, referring once more to the history of our goddess or every year we celebrated the sacred marriage, the sacred marriage of Zeus and Hera, which marked the revival vegetation. Hera found her virginity in the white water sources and rivers.
Under the dial, unveils a magnificent Peacock doing cartwheels, pet our Greek goddess Hera, wife of Zeus.
According to greek mythology the ''eyes'' visible on the peacock's tail were placed there by Hera to commemorate its faithful guardian, Argos, who had a hundred eyes (Ovid I, 625).
According to legend, Argos was hired by Hera, jealous of Io, one of the nymphs courted by her husband Zeus, she suspected of adultery. She turned the young woman into a heifer and entrusted his care giant to spy on her husband.
Argus had a hundred eyes and kept fifty open that constantly watched while fifty others were sleeping, so it was impossible to deceive his vigilance. When Zeus realized this, then sent Hermes to kill him, and deliver Io.
Hera decided to pay tribute to the loyalty of the giant Argos putting his hundred eyes in the tail of her favorite bird, the peacock.
The young couple are shown in profile facing each other on the terminal based on four finely carved feet.
A marvel in every way!
