These chairs were made to project authority and status, featuring heavily carved mythological beasts and rich upholstery that required hours of hand work. Artisans used dense hardwoods like walnut or mahogany, shaping the frame with chisels and hand tools before applying leather and decorative brass tacks.

Wealthy landowners and officers used them in libraries and studies as command seating behind large desks. They were placed where visitors would see them first, serving as both practical furniture and grand displays of wealth. Over time, their production shifted from bespoke artisan workshops to luxury furniture houses making high-end revival pieces.
It was reupholstered recently in brown color leather. See less
