This vintage triangle dinner bell is fashioned from a single length of heavy iron rod bent into an open triangular form, its ends left unjoined so the bar can ring freely when struck. The silhouette is simple and utilitarian, with one crisp corner bend at the bottom right and a softer, rounded turn at the left, while the long arms extend outward in sharp diagonals. The surface is richly weathered, a pitted and mottled blend of oxidized rust, burnt sienna, and umber, with flecks of mustard-ochre where traces of the original finish linger. Texture is the star here: the corrosion has raised a rough, cratered, almost lunar skin along the entire rod, giving it a tactile, sculptural quality that no new piece could replicate. A slender metal wire hanger loops from one arm, ending in a small twisted terminal, and a bright galvanized steel mounting bracket with two punched holes is attached near the lower corner, offering a striking contrast of cool silver against warm rust. The rod ends are blunt and slightly flared from years of use, hinting at a long working life on a porch, barn, or farmhouse.
Mount this bell beside a kitchen door, on a porch post, or against a barn-wood wall, or lay it across a mantel or open shelf, where it suits Rustic, Farmhouse, Industrial, Western, and Americana interiors. Do not wash or soak it; brush away loose debris with a dry stiff brush, and seal lightly with clear wax if you wish to slow further oxidation. The bell measures 37 inches (940 mm) wide, 12 inches (305 mm) deep, and 3 inches (76 mm) high. It is in fair condition, with significant rust, pitting, and surface deterioration, and is offered as a decorative or restoration piece. Claim this honest piece of rural history today.
