A sophisticated study in mid-century kinetic functionalism, this unmarked circa-1960s collapsible bar cart and service trolley, designed in the manner of Bremshey & Co., pairs mechanical precision with an airy, architectural silhouette. Departing from the era’s typical faux-wood laminates, this model features dual tiers of chip-free colorless glass set within framed surrounds, allowing light to flow unobstructed across its sweeping tubular chrome frame. The design fluidly contracts from an expansive serving station, down to a slender 3 inches deep when folded flat. Mobilized by its original rubber-tired disc casters, the piece is in good vintage condition with smoothly operating folding joints, displaying an honest, age-appropriate patina that includes minor pitting to the uprights, scattered oxidation along the frame, and more pronounced surface rust concentrated at the lower crossbars and caster mounts.
The collapsible "Dinett" folding mechanism was originally patented and popularized by Bremshey Co. in Solingen, West Germany. During the 1960s and 1970s, Bremshey exported heavily across Europe and North America, and their massive commercial success led other European manufacturers—particularly in West Germany, France, and northern Italy—to produce unmarked or licensed variations using the exact same scissor-fold engineering.
