This large antique wooden dough bowl was hand carved from solid timber and still shows the tool marks and gentle wear of long kitchen use. Bowls like this were the workhorses of farmhouse kitchens, used for kneading dough, mixing and serving before ovens and mixers changed daily cooking.

At 20 inches wide and 5 inches tall, it makes a generous centerpiece for a dining table, kitchen island or console. Fill it with fruit, branches or flowers, set a pillar candle in the middle, or leave the dark wood bare as a sculptural form.
