This vintage handcrafted parrot ceramic vase presents a tall, tapered baluster silhouette, with a broad, sloping shoulder that narrows toward a flat foot and a short, softly flared neck. Crafted from ceramic, the body is glazed in a mottled, watercolor-like blush pink that deepens to rose and dusty mauve, overlaid with a fine network of craquelure that traces the surface like a map of hairline rivers. Three sculpted parrots perch on and around the vessel in full, three-dimensional relief: a plum-burgundy bird with finely incised, scalloped feathers peers over the rim, a buttery yellow parakeet with long, sweeping wings clings to the shoulder with a coral beak and watchful eye, and a vivid emerald-teal bird with a golden crest rests near the base on a leafy branch. Glossy, majolica-style leaves in jade and viridian green climb the lower body, adding a lush, jungle-like layer of texture. The feathers are modeled with remarkable detail, and the saturated glazes contrast beautifully with the soft, powdery pink ground. Exuberant, whimsical, and richly sculptural, the vase feels like a tropical aviary captured in clay.
Place this vase on a floor beside a sofa or fireplace, on a console, sideboard, or entry table, or in a sunroom, where its dramatic scale and playful menagerie can serve as a focal point. It complements Boho, Chinoiserie, Hollywood Regency, Eclectic, and Grandmillennial interiors. To care for it, dust gently with a soft dry brush, wipe the glazed surfaces with a lightly dampened cloth, and avoid soaking, abrasive cleaners, and sudden temperature changes to protect the glaze and applied figures. The vase measures 14.5 inches (368 mm) wide, 13.5 inches (343 mm) deep, and 20.5 inches (521 mm) high. Condition is very good, with a well-preserved original glaze, charming craquelure consistent with age, minor surface wear and slight discoloration, and intact bird figures with no visible repairs or losses.
