Provest, richly modelled with classical and romantic decorative motifs. The piece features a beautifully shaped oval bowl supported by an elaborate sculptural base, with a charming winged putto or cupid figure incorporated into the composition. Flowing acanthus leaves, scrolling forms and finely worked ornamentation give the tazza the exuberant character associated with the French Rococo Revival. The warm gilt finish accentuates the modelling of the bronze, particularly the sculptural figure and deeply worked foliate decoration. Its compact proportions make it particularly suitable as a decorative table centre, vide-poche or display object on a console, mantelpiece or cabinet. The design reflects the renewed enthusiasm for 18th-century French decorative arts during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when Rococo forms were frequently revived for sophisticated European interiors. A highly decorative piece with strong sculptural presence, particularly appealing to collectors of French-style gilt bronze, Rococo Revival objects and antique decorative arts. Maker / Artist E.
