The substantial rectangular writing surface provides an exceptionally generous workspace, measuring 78.5 cm deep. Its proportions make the table particularly practical for use as a writing desk or compact working table while retaining the elegance associated with traditional French furniture. A single discreet drawer is positioned beneath the top, providing convenient storage for stationery and smaller personal items. It retains its original brass handle, adding an attractive period detail against the warm tones of the oak. The table is raised upon four elegantly shaped cabriole legs, creating a graceful and flowing silhouette characteristic of French-inspired furniture design. Particularly appealing is the oak itself, displaying pronounced natural grain and attractive figuring throughout. Rich, warm colour and a pleasing aged patina enhance the natural character of the timber. Very well constructed and presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. Its combination of generous depth, uncluttered design and elegant proportions makes this a particularly versatile piece, suitable as a writing desk, centre table, occasional table or sophisticated workstation within traditional, country-house or contemporary interiors.
