The washstand features a generously proportioned rectangular worktop, framed to the rear and sides by a raised gallery. Originally intended to help protect surrounding walls and retain washing accessories, the gallery now provides an attractive architectural detail while maintaining the traditional character of the piece. A useful single drawer is incorporated beneath the worktop, providing convenient concealed storage for smaller household or personal items. The drawer retains its original wooden knob handle, complementing the simple and understated character of the pine construction. The washstand is raised upon four elegantly turned legs, creating a lighter and more decorative silhouette while providing a strong and stable foundation. A substantial lower shelf connects the legs and offers valuable additional storage or display space. It is particularly suitable for folded towels, baskets, books, ceramics or other decorative objects. The pine displays pronounced natural grain and attractive tonal variation throughout. Its warm honey colour and established vintage patina give the timber considerable depth and character, contributing to the relaxed country-house appearance of the piece. Although traditionally designed as a washstand, its proportions make it exceptionally versatile for contemporary interiors. It could equally function as a console table, hallway table, bedroom piece, bathroom storage table or decorative side table. At 91 cm wide and only 40 cm deep, it provides useful surface and storage space while maintaining a relatively compact footprint. Well constructed and presented in good vintage condition, with appropriate signs of age and use contributing to its authentic character. A highly usable and attractive piece of english pine furniture, combining traditional design, practical storage and the warmth of naturally aged timber.
