Crafted in Provence, France circa 1880, the utilitarian vessel features a straight cylindrical body with a thick rolled rim and molded bands accenting both the neck and lower edge.

The hand-thrown terracotta pot is finished in a warm yellow glaze, characteristic of traditional pottery from Southern France. Subtle variations in the glaze, scattered firing marks, surface crazing, and traces of age give the piece the appealing character associated with handmade provincial ceramics. The underside remains unglazed, revealing the natural terracotta body and traditional construction.

Originally intended as an everyday storage or preserving vessel, the antique pot is especially versatile today. Its compact proportions make it ideal for holding wooden spoons and other kitchen utensils, while it could also be used as a cache pot, vase, or decorative accent on an open shelf or countertop. The open-top design adds to its practical appeal and rustic charm.

The antique Provençal pottery is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with minor glaze wear and imperfections consistent with its utilitarian history.
