The rectangular top is inset with a classic brown leather writing surface, providing an attractive and durable workspace while complementing the rich tones of the surrounding mahogany. The front incorporates four useful drawers, each retaining its original brass handles. Subtle reeded detailing to the drawer fronts adds architectural interest and refinement without overwhelming the restrained character of the design. The table is raised upon elegant tapered legs, creating a light and beautifully balanced silhouette while providing generous knee space for comfortable use as a writing desk. The mahogany displays attractive natural figuring and a rich, warm colour throughout, enhanced by the character developed through age and use.
