The rectangular top is inset with tooled leather, bordered with gilt decoration and displaying a wonderfully established patina developed through years of use. The naturally aged surface gives the table considerable warmth and character. Two hinged drop leaves allow the table to transform from a compact occasional piece measuring just 37 cm wide into a generous 72.5 cm surface when fully extended, making it particularly practical for interiors where space is at a premium. A useful single drawer is incorporated beneath the top, providing discreet storage for correspondence, stationery and other smaller items. The base is particularly decorative, with opposing lyre-shaped mahogany supports connected by a turned central stretcher and terminating in elegant paw-form feet with castors. These classical details give the piece the refined character associated with Regency furniture design. with its warm mahogany colour, aged leather and versatile proportions, the table would work beautifully as a side table, sofa table, occasional table or library table within both traditional and eclectic interiors.
