The table is particularly attractive for its decorative inlay, with contrasting satinwood and ebony stringing carefully incorporated throughout the design. This restrained ornamentation beautifully complements the richly figured mahogany and demonstrates the quality of the craftsmanship. A raised gallery runs along the upper section, providing an attractive architectural feature while also adding practicality to the writing surface. The table is raised on elegant tapered legs terminating in distinctive spade feet, characteristic of refined Edwardian furniture. The legs are united by a supportive stretcher, providing additional stability while maintaining the light and graceful appearance of the design. Throughout, the mahogany displays particularly attractive natural figuring, deep warm colouring and an established patina, beautifully complemented by the contrasting inlaid decoration. with a worktop height of 76 cm and generous knee clearance of approximately 67.5 cm, the table remains highly practical for use as a writing desk.
