The table features two useful drawers to the front, both retaining their original swan-neck handles. These provide convenient storage for writing materials and smaller personal items while contributing attractive period detail to the restrained and elegant design. Beautiful inlay and crossbanding enhance the table throughout, creating subtle decorative contrast against the rich mahogany and demonstrating the quality craftsmanship and attention to detail evident in its construction. The table stands on elegant tapered legs, giving the piece a refined and well-balanced silhouette. Its generous kneehole height of 69.5 cm provides comfortable clearance when used as a writing desk. Throughout, the mahogany displays particularly attractive natural grain, rich warm colouring and established character, complemented beautifully by the contrasting decorative inlay. At 107 cm wide and only 47 cm deep, the table offers an especially practical footprint, providing a useful writing surface without requiring the space of a larger desk. Its proportions make it equally suitable for use as a writing table, occasional table or decorative console within a study, library, bedroom, drawing room or hallway. Presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. An elegant and highly versatile writing table combining richly figured mahogany, decorative inlay and crossbanding, two practical drawers with original swan-neck handles and beautifully tapered legs.
