The circular white enamel dial displays bold black Roman numerals, an inner calendar date ring, and finely pierced decorative hands. Two winding apertures indicate a weight-driven movement with separate trains for timekeeping and striking.

The elaborate arched clock surround is crowned by a magnificent peacock displaying its fully fanned tail, flanked by birds amid richly detailed foliage, flowers, and fruit.

Suspended below is a long, highly ornamental pendulum with scrolling floral decoration and an impressive circular lower medallion depicting another peacock with its tail fully spread.

The exposed mechanical movement features traditional brass gearing, iron framework, and winding drums, characteristic of French Comtoise clocks produced in the Jura region of France.

Two cylindrical driving weights accompany the clock. See less
