The desk incorporates six drawers in total, with two drawers positioned across the upper section and a further four arranged below, two to either side of the central kneehole. This provides excellent storage for correspondence, stationery, paperwork and everyday office essentials. The central section is particularly practical, incorporating a double-door cupboard fitted with a single internal shelf. This additional concealed storage complements the surrounding drawers while maintaining the balanced architectural appearance of the desk. All of the original handles and fittings have been retained, preserving the period character and integrity of the piece. Beautiful carved decoration appears throughout the desk, demonstrating considerable attention to detail and giving the substantial oak construction a particularly decorative appearance. An elegant raised gallery crowns the top, further enhancing its distinctive silhouette. The desk stands on attractive bracket feet, providing a sturdy foundation while complementing its traditional form. Throughout, the oak displays particularly attractive natural grain, rich warm colouring and established character. At 109.5 cm wide, the desk provides a generous working surface while remaining suitable for a domestic study or home office. The central kneehole measures approximately 52 cm wide by 56 cm high, providing a comfortable seated working position. Presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. A highly desirable example of Edwardian office furniture, combining six practical drawers, a shelved central cupboard, original handles and fittings, extensive carved decoration and richly grained oak within an impressive yet highly usable design.
