A striking vintage solid sterling silver centrepiece or table centre dating to 1995, designed in the Art Nouveau style and incorporating an impressive period glass bowl dating to circa 1900. The substantial silver base is beautifully modelled with naturalistic dolphins, creating a sculptural composition inspired by marine forms. The piece is raised upon three stylised feet, providing a balanced and elegant foundation for the large glass bowl above. The centrepiece is surmounted by a period cased glass bowl with an attractive wavy rim. The bowl sits securely within the silver mount and provides a dramatic contrast between the polished sterling silver and delicately formed glass. Crafted from solid sterling silver, the base has an impressive net silver weight of approximately 845 grams, while the complete centrepiece has a substantial combined weight of approximately 1,649 grams. Fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1995.
Presented in very good vintage condition with no noted bruises, holes, damage or repairs to the silver. The period glass bowl remains free from chips and cracks, with only a small manufacturing flaw dating from its original construction, as illustrated in the accompanying photographs. The piece remains free from later engraved presentation inscriptions or monograms and retains a beautiful bright patina.
