A handsome george vi sterling silver cigarette case, hallmarked birmingham 1945 and made by w. H. Manton ltd. The exterior is finely decorated with precise engine turning, enhanced by contrasting cross-banded rose gold inlay. This subtle combination of silver and warm-toned gold gives the case a particularly refined appearance typical of quality mid-20th-century gentleman’s accessories. The design incorporates a flush concealed hinge, maintaining the clean lines of the case, together with a vacant exterior cartouche. The interior bears an engraved inscription, as illustrated in the accompanying photographs. The case retains its attractive gold-wash gilded interior, providing a rich contrast with the sterling silver exterior. Originally intended as a cigarette case, its practical proportions also make it suitable for contemporary use as a credit card, debit card or business card case. Fully hallmarked for birmingham 1945, the piece bears the maker’s mark for w. H. Manton ltd, whose mark was registered from 1934 to 1952. With a substantial weight of approximately 207.3 grams, the case has a pleasingly solid and high-quality feel. Presented in good vintage condition with minor age-related surface marks and no noted damage or repairs. The push-button catch remains in good working order and closes securely. Clean and ready for use or display.
