Fully hallmarked in london for 1967, the piece combines traditional seal design with the playful sculptural character of mid-20th-century novelty jewellery.

the charm is conceived as a miniature three-dimensional object, its warm yellow-gold construction giving the piece a rich and substantial appearance despite its compact scale. Fine modelling and carefully worked details transform the functional seal form into a miniature piece of gold sculpture.

set into the base is polished black onyx, providing a dramatic contrast to the yellow gold. Onyx has a long association with seals and signet jewellery, prized for its smooth surface, durability and deep, uniform colouring.

the piece was produced by slade & kempton and carries london hallmarks dating it precisely to 1967.

an appealing collector's piece combining precious-metal craftsmanship, traditional seal design and the whimsical character of vintage british novelty jewellery.
