The desk is arranged in the traditional twin-pedestal configuration and incorporates nine drawers in total. Four graduated drawers are positioned within each pedestal, with a larger central drawer above the kneehole, providing excellent storage for documents, stationery and writing accessories. Each drawer retains its original brass swan-neck handles, which contrast beautifully against the warm tones of the mahogany and contribute to the desk's authentic period character. The writing surface is inset with an attractive light brown leather top, creating a comfortable and sophisticated workspace while complementing the rich colour of the surrounding mahogany. Particularly distinctive are the carved claw-and-ball feet supporting each pedestal, lending the desk a strong architectural presence and adding an attractive decorative element to the otherwise restrained Edwardian form. The mahogany displays a rich, warm colour with attractive natural grain and tonal variation throughout, highlighting the quality of the timber and craftsmanship. For ease of transportation and installation, the desk separates into three sections consisting of the top and two pedestals, a traditional construction method that also makes this substantial piece considerably easier to position within an interior. A highly practical and decorative example of early 20th century English furniture, equally suited to a study, library, home office or sophisticated professional interior.
