The desk features a particularly attractive serpentine-shaped façade, lending the piece a graceful flowing profile and considerably enhancing its decorative presence. Offering excellent practical storage, the desk is fitted with nine drawers in total. Four drawers are arranged to either side of the kneehole, with a further central drawer positioned above, creating a balanced and functional configuration. All retain their original decorative brass handles, providing an attractive contrast against the richly coloured mahogany. The generous top is inset with a rich red leather writing surface, creating a comfortable and distinguished workspace while complementing the warm tones of the surrounding timber. Raised on traditional bracket feet, the desk has a substantial yet elegantly proportioned appearance. Throughout, the mahogany displays particularly attractive natural figuring, deep rich grain and warm established colour, highlighting the quality of the timber and craftsmanship. The central kneehole measures approximately 48 cm wide by 60 cm high, providing useful working space beneath the desk. At 115 cm wide, the desk offers a generous writing surface and substantial drawer capacity without the imposing dimensions of a larger pedestal desk, making it particularly suitable for a study, library, home office or sophisticated living space. Please note that the desk is constructed as one solid piece and does not separate for transportation. Presented in good vintage condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. A highly desirable and practical English writing desk, combining a graceful serpentine form, nine drawers, original decorative brass handles, red leather writing surface and richly figured mahogany within a timeless design.
