Each chair features an attractive curved back incorporating pierced and carved splats, creating the distinctive open silhouette associated with classic corner-chair design. The rich mahogany frames are complemented by finely shaped supports and handsome cabriole legs terminating in carved claw feet. The seats retain their traditional woven cane, which remains in very good condition, and the pair is accompanied by the matching removable upholstered cushions shown in the photographs. These can be used for additional comfort or removed to reveal the attractive cane work beneath. The warm mahogany colouring, intricate carving and unusual form give the chairs excellent decorative presence. Their generous proportions also make them particularly effective as statement accent chairs in a library, study, hallway, bedroom, country house or traditionally styled interior. Both chairs remain solid, sturdy and ready for use. They present exceptionally well, with the cane seats in very good order and only a small number of minor age-related marks consistent with careful previous use.
