The circular medallion is accented with two small … Read more Vintage Canadian 14K Gold and Diamond Leo Zodiac Constellation Pendant, circa 1970s. The circular medallion is accented with two small round diamond chips and features a textured Florentine-style ground that contrasts well with the polished border and raised astrological decoration. At the center is a stylized representation of the Leo constellation, its star connected by fine linear details across the surface. The traditional Leo zodiac glyph appears prominently to the left. One small diamond chip accents the celestial design on the face of the medallion, adding a subtle flash of light among the stars. A second small round diamond chip is set into the tapered gold bail, an especially attractive detail that carries the celestial theme upward from the pendant. The reverse is marked 14K R&B Canada, identifying the piece as Canadian-made 14K gold jewelry. This pendant s an excellent example of the celestial and zodiac jewelry movement of the late 1960s and 1970s. Leo, traditionally associated with approximately July 23 through August 22, is represented by the lion and is one of the fires signs of the zodiac.
With modern fashion, this pendant can be worn alone on a 16-18 inch chain (this is pendant only, no chain included). For the current layered look it can be combined with one or two finer chains of different lengths.
