This vintage pair of twin headboards is built from honey-toned rattan poles bent and joined into a gently scalloped, crown-like silhouette. The arched crest rises from softly curved shoulders to a rounded peak. Inside it, nested arcs and short radiating spokes form a fan or spiderweb pattern, with each concentric tier stepping inward toward a small central arch. Every joint is bound with neat wrapped lashings, which add a handcrafted detail and tie the openwork together with a rhythmic, tailored quality. Two horizontal rails and a central vertical post divide the lower field into open panels, keeping the form airy and light. At the base, each headboard ends in a pair of pale, natural pine mounting blocks with visible grain and knots, which allow it to attach to a standard bed frame. The original finish has a warm, glowing patina with subtle variation in tone, and the natural nodes and fine surface markings of the cane add organic character. The two headboards are closely matched in scale, pattern, and finish.
Use these headboards to dress a pair of twin beds in a guest room, children’s room, or sunroom, or place them back to back as a graphic backdrop for a daybed or a pair of sofas. They complement Mid-Century Modern, Boho, Coastal, Hollywood Regency, and Chinoiserie interiors, especially with linen bedding, woven textures, and lush greenery. To care for them, dust with a soft, dry cloth or a vacuum brush attachment, spot clean with a barely damp cloth, and avoid harsh chemicals, standing moisture, and prolonged direct sunlight to protect the rattan and its lashings. Each headboard measures approximately 45 inches (1143 mm) wide, 1.25 inches (32 mm) deep, and 49.75 inches (1264 mm) high. Offered in very good vintage condition, the pair has its original finish with a warm patina, minor surface scuffs and slight wear, and is structurally sound with no significant damage or repairs.
