The sides are dressed in a repeating geometric design of diamonds, hexagons, and angular bars, each outlined in slender rattan poles and set against panels of finely woven cane. The woven infill gives the facade a soft, tactile counterpoint to the crisp linear framing, and the layered relief creates quiet shadow lines that echo Chinese Chippendale fretwork. The corners are neatly mitered and capped with sturdy vertical poles, which keep the silhouette clean and crisp. Across the top, an open lattice of square-cut rattan slats forms a grid of evenly spaced voids. It provides firm support for a mattress or cushion and lets air circulate beneath. Wrapped lashings and bound joints add handcrafted detail at the intersections.
